Creating a Case Record & Validating 16-Character CNR Numbers in AdvoKosh
How to open a new litigation matter, select court hierarchy, validate 16-character CNR numbers, and link clients in AdvoKosh.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Case Registry & Tap '+'
From the main navigation bottom bar, tap 'Cases' and click the floating '+' action button to launch the Case Filing Form.
Select Forum & Court Hierarchy
Select Court Complex hierarchy: Supreme Court, High Court (with State Bench), District & Sessions Court, Civil Court, or Specialized Tribunal (NCLT, DRT, Consumer Forum).
Input & Validate 16-Character CNR Number
Enter the Case Number Record (CNR). AdvoKosh automatically validates the 16-character alphanumeric pattern (e.g. DLHC01-123456-2026), parsing State Code, District Code, Court Complex Code, and Filing Year.
Record Case Details & Stage
Fill in Case Type (e.g. Criminal Revision, Civil Suit, Sec 138 NI Act, Arbitration Petition), Case No./Year, Court Hall/Room number, Presiding Judge name, and Current Stage (e.g. Framing of Issues, Cross-Examination, Final Arguments).
Link Client & Opposing Counsel
Select an existing client from your Client Directory or create a new contact. Record Opposing Party name and Opposing Counsel contact details for reference.
Schedule Initial Hearing Date
Set the first scheduled hearing date and select the hearing purpose. AdvoKosh instantly commits the record to local SQLCipher storage and schedules background cause list reminders.
Expected Outcome
The case is safely committed to the encrypted database, listed on your active court diary, and enabled for 1-tap eCourts deep-link lookups.
Important Points & Common Pitfalls
- Mistyping letter 'O' for numeral '0' or letter 'I' for numeral '1' when typing the 16-character CNR number.
- Leaving the Court Hall number blank, which prevents sorting by courtroom order on the morning cause list.
